King Abdulaziz University commemorated three centuries of glory on the anniversary of Founding Day

 

King Abdulaziz University marked Founding Day in proud recognition of the deep-rooted foundations of the Saudi state spanning more than three centuries, reaffirming the enduring bond between its citizens and their leadership since the establishment of the First Saudi State in mid-1139 AH (1727 CE). The celebration was attended by the University President, Dr. Tareef bin Youssef Alaama, vice presidents, deans, faculty and staff members, and students on Thursday, 26 February 2026, at the University’s Equestrian Field.

 

The ceremony commenced with the Saudi national anthem, followed by a tour of booths dedicated to traditional handicrafts and displays by productive families showcasing their unique products. The event also featured a camel and falcon exhibition area, as well as a photography corner that allowed attendees to document this cherished national occasion.

 

The visit concluded at the second tent, where guests were welcomed by the aroma of authentic Saudi coffee, an enduring symbol of generosity and hospitality. Attendees watched with pride as students from the Heritage Club performed the traditional Saudi Ardah with dignity and honor, bringing the celebration to a close in a spirit of profound national pride and deep belonging to this great nation.

 

In conjunction with the Founding Day celebrations, the Endowment of the Language of the Qur’an at the university, in collaboration with the Department of Arabic Language and Literature and the Center of Excellence in Arabic Language Research, organized a panel discussion titled “Arabic and the Preservation of National Identity Across Three Centuries.” The session featured Professor Abdulrahman bin Rajaa Allah Al-Sulami, Professor Anwar bin Saad Al-Jadaani, and Dr. Huda Al-Battati. The discussion highlighted the pivotal role of the Arabic language in shaping and safeguarding Saudi national identity over the past three centuries, since the establishment of the Saudi state.
